When you downloaded it. Play it once. Then exit, open up wordpad, and open your plr-file in the save-directory. Chane the lineHalf Rate='1' // 0 = super-high physics rate, 1 = normaltoHalf Rate='0' // 0 = super-high physics rate, 1 = normalNow you have even better physics! The demo rocks. Its 4 cars, 1 track (Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Sauber, and Australia)Lots of things changed,. Well just try it.btw.

You need DX8.1 installed.Something I noticed:. No need to save setup anymore when trying different settings. Also different directorys for each track. Grip issues in low / highspeed fixed. FF seems more refined. New graphical touches, like trees swaying in the wind. rain looks better, and you have a drying racing line.

Wheel to wheel physics. You get launched up in the air now. Debris collision = you can drive into the parts from the other cars.

Wings fly away when broken looks real. Tires bounce around looks also real. Engine, Brake heat, wear etc. Its now possible to blow the engineYou also have these new setup-settings, radiatorsize, brake-duct, rpm-limit. Launch controll!. Traction Controll.

Improved sounds!! Sounds great. Stall in pitlane = pitguys restart it. AI seems better.

Thougher. Track seemed to be improved. Never been to australia, but they have change some turns, and for the better i hope!.

Less bumps on the road. Tirewear much better implented. Graphics improved with multitextured tarmac, grass etc.

Improved suspension-geometry thanks to Doug Arnao (it really says so in the suspension-file =). Lots of more thingsThe FPS is about the same as F1 2001! GreatEA Sports / ISI have listened to the main critics i think. Now lets see what the multiplayer will be (not in the demo).

Cause in the settings, it says 'Modem. Thoughts on it after more extensive play.Bloody good. Haven't enjoyed a racing demo this much since GPL way back when.

Replay system is much improved over 2001 but it still feels jerky and a bit off for me. As far as replay interface, I wish devs would just copy the GPL approach that really does work so well. Physics. Tire model feels great, the way the grip comes in is sensible, wear rates are good. Slides feel awesome. 2001 felt to me to easy to get it into a sudden uncontrollable tank slapping moment, this just doesn't do that at all you can feel it and catch it. Oh and I've already mentioned my thoughts on the suspension.

Objects. Needs some improvement as there's some tearing. But generally very good quality on the revised objects. Trees swaying in the breeze is a nice touch.

Textures. Nice looking black stuff.

Advertising signs are much cleaner. Damage.

Blown engine. Controller. No seperate axis for me (in XP anyhow). AI.

No comment yet. Sound. Now the bad news. I got a feeling the multiplayer is going to blow.

Why I think this is based upon the state of the replay system. If it can't replicate the view from my hard drive well, I don't think it's going to replicate a 'replay' from someone elses computer across a network any better.Never the less, I can't see GP4 going anywhere near this.BTW Launch control: It took me a while to figure this out - hold down the bound key for launch control while in neutral, touching the accelerator will now accelerate and autoshift for you let go of the button.

It will still be enabled until you back off or hit the breaks. I can't remember if this is 100% correct I've got brainfade;). Kanec: I Guess you mean the instant replay in F1 2002-demo? (press R while driving)There are different levels of quality for the replays. If you look in your playerfile (name.plr) in the save-catalog you will find these lines:Record Replays='1' // whether to record replays or notRecord Hotlaps='1' // whether to record hotlaps or not (must have replay recording on)Instant Replay Length='15'Replay Fidelity='2'I think the Fideity is max on 3. Dont remember from F1 2001, but anyway, thats why the cars act a bit wierd in Instant Replay.I hope that Multiplayer will be atleast playable this year. Thats my only hope. F1 2001 had too much warping, and lag to be playable.

Originally posted by AndreasNystromActually, my PB in the McLaren is now 1:31, so the 1:33 in the Ferrari is slower! It could also be that we learn the track betterI might have driven better in the McLaren too. Dont know really. Its hard to say when the telemetry isnt in this version yet.Btw, F1 2001 telemetry works. But its just the basic vcr-file things you get to know from that:/Wow nice times, good stuff you're getting fast there mate.I've never really driven this track but starting to enjoy it more and more. I think you're right, just learning the track better. Just getting the right race-line and start riding the curbs a bit more shaves off seconds! And ive played this track in F1 2000, F1RC, F1 2001, etc soIts not like i did a 1:31 on my 2nd lap btw the better guys are down to 1:28:/For fun i played it in F1 2001 a bit too, and F1 2002 is more different then i thought at first! The track is probably not that much changed, but in 2001 oboy, what a grip you had in high speeds!

The forcefeedback is much worse in 2001, in 2002 you can really feel the tires scrub (which i thought i could in 2001, but in 2002 its so much better)The frame rate difference is 2fps which i think i can live withAnd all new sounds in 2002 really adds atmosphere! Starting engine noises, gear-change noises (a couple different!), backfire, etc! Really nice. The drivingfeeling feels more solid too. The car isnt like a leaf on the road. The enginewear, brakewear adds extra feeling too. I was racing in a 30lap race against the AI, and thought i might do it with 3 in radiator-size.

It kept overheating all the timeso i had to put in the clutch and just glide to get some air into the radiators so it wouldnt melt! The tirewear is much better too! As long as you drive carefully, you have pretty good tires when you go into the pits.

In 2001 the tires were gone after 15laps, and you spin in every corner. The TC in 2002 is much more refined too. I cant wait for the full version!
