Do a search, several ways to add an Aux in adapter via BMW parts.Look here: have now and previously read this thread several times. However, I am still left confused - due (i'm sure) to my lack of knowledge of the paticulars of my vehicle. I have an '06 ///M with Nav (info I 'neglected' to post previously) and need an aux imput.

Bmw Aux Input Cable

This particular thread seemed to have references to an aux imput at the back of the radio, as well as references to modules to plug into the flat 4 pin connector, as well as cover plates for the actual connector. Hence, my confusion. I don't need the cover plates - I will route the wires directly as necessary. My original question - with this BavAuto kit - do I need any BMW parts as well? I will determine this weekend if I have the 4 pin connector. Perhaps I am missing something??? Is this Aux input adapter used in conjunction with or instead of the BMW Aux in adapter? I have an '06 Z4 ///M which does not have the BMW aux in included.

I am looking for a way to interface my Sirius Sportster into the audio.I think they are talking about adding the aux-in which was standard on the 07/08 cars. Yours is like mine and can have an input added either in the factory location(the panel under the a/c controls), the ashtray, or in the glovebox. If your sportster can be added through a minijack, that would work. There may be a more specific way to add it though as your radio has an input open, it is just how you want to interface it.

I would think an aux-in jack would be good for you since you could also use an MP3 player if desired. So, if I am reading this correctly. My sportster does have a line out module designed to plug directly into an aux in connector. The radio base will be permanently mounted into the car, so I won't need to plug/unplug the cable in & out of the aux plug.

Therefor, and please correct me if I am wrong, I can purchase this kit from Bavauto, plug it in to the flat connector, leave it hidden away behind the panel under the ac controls, & just route the cable from the radio base around the panel (I may need to put a small notch in the panel cover) & plug it directly into the Bavauto adapter. I know I'm probably making this all harder than it really is but I seem to be having a mental block!

You will end up with a female miniplug connector either under the A/C controls, in the ashtray or in the glovebox if you add the OEM aux-input(as seen in the thread linked above) With this connector you simply need a male to male line cord to plug into your device on one end and the aux-input on the other. All the wiring for the aux-input is hidden and the install looks factory clean when done. The aux-in is connected to the back of the radio as illustrated in the thread above. This is simplest and cheapest way to go(well under 100 depending on which method used). Just wanted to say thanks- This info on this thread and forum were really helpful. I ordered the Part from Bimmerspecialist.com: part #82 11 0 153 367 - GENUINE MINI - and the install took like 30 minutes from start to finish. It was really straightforward and splicing the pins into the existing adaptor was incredibly easy. Thanks Ron for the detailed pictures, really appreciate them.$40 bucks and a half hour did the trick- now have iphone tunes in the Z4 and can talk through the phone when it is connected to the aux.The only thing I did different was I used a stiff rubber cooking pan scraper to gently pull out the center vents once i used two small flathead screwdrivers to pull down the tabs. This is the kind of scraper I used: probably have one in your kitchen.thanks.

The NAV-TV MOST-AUX for BMW is a M.O.S.T. Fiber optic interface that introduces audio into select fiber-equipped BMW vehicles with no degradation in sound quality. AUX audio is triggered with an external toggle switch (not included). Unlike cheap FM-based modules that transmit sound via an FM station, the MOST-AUX interfaces directly into the OEM fiber system and is designed to work specifically with a compatibile BMW vehicle.Note 1:BMW 7 Series: Some vehicles have an additional amplifier located on the driver's side roof of the trunk. If this amplifier is present, then the MOST-Aux is not compatible with this car.All other models: Some vehicles do not have an active fiber optic system, and are not compatible with the MOST-Aux.

This will often require having an installer disconnect the fiber-optics to verify compatibility.Note 2: Unlike other versions of the MOST-Aux, the MOST-Aux/BMW requires porgramming using the USB Updater, and this programming will likely need to be done multiple times before the correct settings are found, and in some VERY, VERY RARE cases, the vehicle may end up being incompatible.MOST-AUX for BMW Compatibility Chart.
